How long have you been with LMI?

I have been with LMI for 11 years.

What are you responsible for as the chief technology officer at LMI?

My responsibility is to nurture innovation through organizational culture and structure while allowing LMI to deliver scalable, repeatable, and robust solutions to our customers. Our focus is our customers’ mission, and our goal is to help them adapt quickly and securely to new technology that will impact the way they make decisions today and disrupt how they operate in the future. The chief technology office (CTO) is responsible for managing and driving value from technology to deliver capabilities. This includes hiring, building, growing, and developing high-performing technical teams; connecting technology to our business; focusing on our external technology offerings; evangelizing and keeping a pulse on technology; and driving technology decisions that impact our business operations. My goal is to navigate technology so that LMI can quickly make strategic and informed investment decisions for itself and its customers.

How is LMI’s chief technology office bringing emerging technology and Innovation at the Pace of Need® to address its customers most complex challenges?

LMI’s CTO organizes around the iterative lifecycle of technology and innovation, beginning with engaging early-stage technology solutions and participating in research and development to building rapid prototypes and products that we engage customers with to address their challenges. LMI built the Forge™, our technology studio, to explore and test new ideas and accelerate government agencies’ development time. The Forge™ constructs early-stage concepts on advanced technology by combining our federal market expertise with agile development, human-centered design, and applied research and technology. At the Forge™, we are decreasing time to value for our customers by maximizing their current investments and employing rapid prototyping. We focus on Innovation at the Pace of Need®, which means delivering value from day one. Our deep customer knowledge allows us to partner with organizations as trusted innovators to explore and discover solutions that will get results now, not three years from now. Space is a major focus of our efforts because it is evolving rapidly, relies on a strong engagement with industry, and requires a forward-looking view of technology and operations.

What’s the part of your job that makes you excited to come to work every day?

The best part of my job is working with a diverse group of talented people who embrace technology and innovation as enablers, and are genuinely invested in our customers’ missions. LMI wants to make an impact. The depth of expertise and talent that exists at LMI makes this possible and is humbling. It is a privilege to play a part in focusing technology and innovation on challenges of national importance while continuously learning from the people around me.
