Innovation at the Pace of Need®, Defense Modernization, DoD Acquisition and Sustainment, Predictive Maintenance, Data & Analytics, Human Centered DesignTysons, Va.— LMI has been awarded a $42.8M task order, with a total contract value of $98.4M, to deploy the Naval Autonomous Data Collection System (NADACS) across four U.S. Navy public shipyards. This contract marks a significant milestone in enhancing asset visibility in line with the Navy's performance optimization strategy and is the largest implementation of NADACS within the Navy to date.
Under the contract, LMI will provide project management, procurement, installation, configuration, testing, and delivery support as the Navy implements radio-frequency identification and mesh network systems across four shipyards. LMI will also develop NADACS training materials and deliver a sustainment plan for ongoing system maintenance. Using an agile and human-centered design approach, LMI will ensure this implementation of NADACS aligns with larger Navy digital transformation efforts.
A government-owned system, NADACS, operates in a Navy-managed cloud environment and is composed of sensors that gather data at the tactical edge; a back-end data environment for collecting, storing, and transforming data; and a front-end web interface for visualizing the data. NADACS also holds an authority to operate and can be leveraged to speed up the delivery of sensor capabilities for mission-critical logistics processes.
“This contract will help improve Naval readiness at a time when the operating tempo of our fleets is stressing production, repair and maintenance capacity.”

“This contract will help improve Naval readiness at a time when the operating tempo of our fleets is stressing production, repair and maintenance capacity.” said Jon Baba, senior vice president of LMI’s defense market. “LMI is thrilled to be supporting the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program as they continue to modernize and optimize the nation’s shipyards”.
LMI has spent more than five years designing, developing, and enhancing NADACS capabilities in collaboration with Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP). This partnership with NAVSUP began in 2017 as a research and development effort to design the NADACS data lake.
