Tysons, Va. — LMI has been awarded a two-year, $24 million contract to provide support to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response’s (ASPR) Countermeasures Acceleration Group (CAG). LMI will provide subject matter expertise in biomedical engineering, medical logistics and supply chain operations, supply chain risk and resilience, stockpile management, and organizational and policy strategy. The mission of the CAG is to accelerate development, production, and distribution of effective vaccines and therapeutics to counter COVID-19 and advise other federal entities on the progress of such efforts, as requested. LMI will also help HHS maintain and adapt CAG’s capabilities for future pandemics by supporting lessons learned development and long-term strategy efforts.

“This is an exciting and unique opportunity to help the federal government ensure the resilience of medical supply chain for COVID-19 and future pandemics,” says Christen Smith, LMI’s vice president of the health and civilian market. “The work that DoD and HHS have accomplished together since the beginning of COVID-19 is remarkable and unprecedented. I am pleased that we are the chosen partner to support this priority work.”

LMI is the prime contractor with subcontracting support from Aveshka, Goldbelt Frontier, and Tunnell Government Services. LMI will be leveraging relevant capabilities from our Joint Enterprise Omnibus Professional Engineering and Technical Support IDIQ that provides similar scientific and technical expertise to support DoD’s COVID-19 response efforts.

“The expansion of our mission critical health security work into HHS positions us to better support customers requiring a wider range of health resilience and medical logistics expertise,” says Pete Pflugrath, senior vice president of markets and growth at LMI. “We are excited to help ASPR execute its COVID-19 mission while helping institutionalize the capabilities for future pandemics.”
