Dr. Soo Kim is a policy practitioner and thought leader in national security, defense, homeland security, and the intelligence community. During her seven years as an East Asia analyst in the Central Intelligence Agency, she served senior officials in the National Security Council, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Department of State, and other agencies. As a management consultant to the Department of Homeland Security, Soo advised senior-level leaders on strategy and implementation. She has taught classes on East Asian history at American University and frequently lectures on foreign policy to U.S. and international audiences. For the RAND Corporation, she assessed the federal government and private foundations.
Soo is frequently cited as an expert in leading international media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The Washington Post, The New York Times, BBC, NBC, PBS, Time, Newsweek, and Agence France-Presse. She received a doctorate in international affairs at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, a master’s and Master of International Public Policy from the same institution, and a bachelor’s in French from Yale University.
