LMI has been a key player in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Secure Border Initiative. As part of this comprehensive multiyear plan to secure America’s borders and reduce illegal entry, CPB is constructing hundreds of miles of physical fences and barriers along the U.S. southwest border. And LMI is rolling up its sleeves and lending hands-on assistance—from the design and construction phases to management of the supply chain.
From a strategic perspective, LMI developed and managed the real-estate acquisition strategy for three distinct barrier projects consisting of more than 500 miles of fence. At a more tactical level, we have had a major role in the day-to-day management oversight of the project, including the construction-related supply chain activities for those three barrier projects.
Through it all, LMI has been helping CBP stay on top of the environmental issues associated with construction of this magnitude. We developed and managed a strategy for complying with environmental laws and regulations and now continue to manage daily reviews and environmental monitoring to ensure this program intended to secure the nation, protects its environment as well.
